Gary Bolyer
I am a New York city-based landscape painter. My impressionistic oil paintings focus on my love of the natural world. Using broad, sweeping brushstrokes and color laid down in patches, my intent is to capture the natural beauty of my subject matter with power and affection.
I was educated at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in oil painting. I have also studied landscape oil painting at The Art Students’ League of New York.
My artist’s style reflects my early influences in my life, especially my formative years growing up in a rural area of northwest Louisiana, and my love of nature. Detail is minimized in my work and used only for the enhancement of the composition.
